A new report has announced that the first woman to coach an NHL game will happen this season.

Female Coach Joins NHL Team

A new announcement has confirmed that Jessica Campbell will become the first woman to coach in an NHL game. She is an assistant coach for the AHL's Coachella Valley Firebirds but has earned a call-up for the preseason.

#SeaKraken will welcome @Firebirds assistant coach, Jessica Campbell behind the bench tonight at @ClimateArena for the matchup against Calgary.

Campbell will coach for the Kraken in a game against the Calgary Flames. Campbell was a successful player for the Canadian women's national team. She also played professional hockey with the Malmo Redhawks and Calgary Inferno.

Campbell is noted for being a world-class skating coach and was hired by the Firebirds in July of 2022. She will now take on a new challenge this week with her NHL debut.
