After a disappointing end to the 2022-23 season, the Colorado Avalanche are looking for a big bounce back, but already one major hole has been revealed in their lineup ahead of 2023-24.

A major injury

According to reports, Pavel Francouz, who started 17 games for the team in net a season ago has not properly recovered from off-season surgery yet, and will miss an undetermined amount of time to begin the year.

With hopes of a deep playoff run, it makes sense for the Avalanche to explore the trade market for goaltending help, and now, their three biggest targets have officially been identified.

Three solid options

According to an NHL insider, the three names that Colorado have identified as options ahead of the season are Casey DeSmith, Jaroslav Halak and Dan Vladar.

Avs looking for new backup goalie. Halak, Vladar and DeSmith leading candidates. Francouz out a while with more injury stuff.

None of them will come cheap, but given their experience as backups in the NHL, all three would be fantastic options for Colorado, and with their depth, speed and talent up and down their lineup, any type of help in net could once again catapult them to contender status in the Western Conference.
