Archibald Has Contract Terminated

The Tampa Bay Lightning just announced that they terminated Josh Archibald's contract.

We have placed forward Josh Archibald on waivers for the purpose of terminating his contract.

«We wish Josh, his wife Bailey, and their entire family the very best in their future endeavors.» - Julien BriseBois

Lightning GM Julien BriseBois said the following about the matter:

"Yesterday, I was informed by Josh's agent, and by Josh himself in a subsequent conversation, that he was not planning on playing hockey for the time being and that he would not be reporting to training camp. Consequently, Josh was placed on unconditional waivers earlier today for the purpose of terminating his contract." - Julien BriseBois

Archibald has played 305 games throughout his NHL career, most spent with the Penguins but also logging minutes with the Oilers and Coyotes.

While the circumstances for him not playing hockey for the immediate future are unknown, the Lightning had to place him on waivers to terminate his contract. He won back to back Stanley Cups with the Pittsburgh Penguins.
