Just now, reputable insider and Sportsnet reporter Eric Engles dropped some major news regarding Joel Quenneville and his NHL return.
Here in Chicago, where NHL general managers and coaches are conducting a one-day meeting. Also in attendance are Stan Bowman and Joel Quenneville, who will address the group at some point this morning.
Quenneville previously coached the Florida Panthers in 2021 but resigned after the news about Quenneville's knowledge of the Kyle Beach situation came to light.
Where He Could Go
There is no doubt that Quenneville is a great coach at the NHL level. He coaches teams that win championships which not many coaches can say. Quenneville currently sits without an NHL position but has been reinstated by Gary Bettman already.
There are currently no open positions in the NHL but there are some coaches on the hot seat that Quenneville could replace.
The Islanders are not in the best standing with Lane Lambert and the same goes for the Senators and DJ Smith. While it is unknown of the franchises would hire Quenneville, he could be an option for both as he eyes his NHL return.
