The NHL has announced its broadcasting schedule for the upcoming season. The league has slighted several teams when it comes to national broadcasts.

Canada Loses The Primetime Spotlight

With the release of the NHL's national television schedule for TNT and ESPN, many fans are noticing a lack of Canadian representation.

As this graphic shows only 31 total games are being shown including a Canadian team. Of these 31 games 29 are taken up by the Toronto Maple Leafs and the Edmonton Oilers. The only other team to get a game is Vancouver who was able to secure two games.

Total Disrespect To Canada

With this news, that means that 4 Canadian NHL teams will be without a primetime game on TNT or ESPN. Every American team has at least one game in primetime including the Anaheim Ducks and Arizona Coyotes who were two of the worst teams in the NHL last year.

This is just the latest miss step by the NHL in their broadcasting partnership in the United States. The league cannot grow properly if all of the teams and regions are not properly represented.

American fans will now not get to see players like Brady Tkachuk, Jake Sanderson, or Cole Caufield. All of these players are up-and-coming American stars in the game of hockey. Unfortunately for American hockey fans, they will be unable to watch these players play under the brightest spotlight.
