Elliotte Friedman Confirms Major Toronto Maple Leafs Rumour: William Nylander Was Being Shopped Earlier in the Off-Season
Elliotte Friedman, the renowned insider, made a major declaration earlier today during a conversation on Sportsnet 650's Halford and Brough in the Morning.
Friedman Makes Revelation on Nylander
According to him, the Toronto Maple Leafs did consider trading William Nylander this summer. However, the right offer never came, and it looks like the 27-year-old forward will remain in Toronto for now.
Here's what he said:
I mean, he did score 40 goals last year. He's a really talented guy and in the playoffs, he was involved in a couple of their really successful moments against Tampa Bay. I think they know that and recognize that; they didn't like what was out there [in the trade market]."

Trading Nylander?
When he met with Friedman last week, Nylander said it again: he wants to stay in Toronto.
He has played his entire pro career with the Leafs, who drafted him 8th overall in 2014. Since then, he has scored 177 goals and 253 assists in 521 games.
Brad Treliving could decide to trade him for a considerable return, but it doesn't look like that's going to happen for now.
Don't be surprised if Nylander is traded at the deadline if a deal hasn't been made by then, but let's not forget that he can bring a lot to the Leafs in the next playoffs and Treliving might decide to keep him because of that.
