Some breaking news has emerged in the hockey world concerning past and present NHLers.

Players Banned from doing TV Commercials

As reported by the renowned journalist Rick Westhead, athletes will be banned from commercials promoting gambling in Ontario.

Here's what he shared on X:

"Active and retired athletes will be banned from appearing in commercials promoting online gambling in Ontario as of Feb. 28, according to new Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario rules.

NHL stars Auston Matthews, Connor McDavid and Wayne Gretzky have appeared in such ads."

Unfortunately, if you watch hockey on TV, commercials are a huge part of the experience and we can't help but notice that there are a lot of gambling commercials to incite people to place bets.

However, this won't stop gambling companies from continuing making ads. They'll just stop using athletes to promote their services.
