New Details on Matthews' Contract
Insider Chris Johnston reported some intriguing information about the bonus structure of Matthews' extension.
That includes a $15.925M bonus payment when the contract officially starts next July."
When this contract expires, Matthews will be 30 and will likely be able to sign for even more money.
By that point, he will have earned something close to $114M in his career, plus all the endorsements. Being one of the best players in Canada's top hockey market comes with its perks.
