While the hockey world is still mourning the loss of Rodion Amirov due to a brain tumor another young prospect has been diagnosed with leukemia.

Ducks Prospect Announces Leukemia Diagnosis

Will Francis who was selected 163rd overall by the Anaheim Ducks in 2019 announced recently he is battling leukemia. This is Francis' second bout with leukemia.

"I have some unfortunate news to share. Earlier this month, during a routine post-recovery check-up, a blood test revealed a relapse, showing my cancer had returned." - Will Francis on his ongoing fight with leukemia

He had previously battled for two years against acute lymphoblastic leukemia. His treatments included having to take up to 25 pills a day.

Francis Expects To Be Back Soon

In a statement shared by the University of Minnesota-Duluth where Francis has been playing and attending school, Francis has said he expects to be back in class and on the ice in January. He also shared that the news was surprising as he had felt in the best shape he's ever been in

Will Francis is heading into his third season on the Minnesota-Duluth roster. He played in 28 games last season. We wish Will and his family all the best as he begins his fight. Hopefully, come January we will get to see him back out on the ice with his teammates playing the game we all love.
