Jakob Chychrun Delights Fans With New Health Initiative
The Ottawa Senators made the massive pickup of star blue liner Jakob Chychrun at the 2022-23 trade deadline, and now, he's delighted fans with just how he has chosen to make himself at home.
Settling in
After the move last summer, Chychrun has now officially partnered with the Rideau Carleton Casino as the future Hard Rock's community ambassador, and will take a massive role in many things, all will work with the organization to promote many programs, especially those focusing on mental health issues.
There's been a lot more light shined on mental health in the last few years. You're seeing a lot more on social media and with the Bell Let's Talk movement. It's important to have local initiatives.
This is a cause that's close to the heart of Chychrun, and it's great for fans, especially younger ones to see their favourite players get involved in such initiatives that spread such a positive message.
A new star in town
This is a Senators team with plenty of star power already in Tim Stutzle and Brady Tkachuk, and if Chychrun can lead the blue line forward, this may be a very, very good team in 2023-24.
In a combined 43 games a year ago, Chychrun contributed 9 goals and 33 points to Arizona and Ottawa, but with a full summer and pre-season to work with his new teammates, we may see the very best he's got to offer in 2023-24.
