The NHL has one of the deepest talent pools in all of professional sports, and even with plenty of talent, there's some players that just can't make it, and instead turn overseas to make their living.

That's exactly what happened for Bobby Butler, a veteran player that appeared in 130 games over his NHL career between 2009 and 2014 with Ottawa, Florida, New Jersey and Nashville.

Unfortunately, the talented winger was unable to make an impact in that time, netting just 20 goals and 49 points before heading overseas to make his name in Sweden and Russia before returning to the US in 2017.

A solid career

That return to the AHL proved to be fruitful, as Butler was selected for Team USA back in the 2018 Olympics, but took a brief hiatus from on ice competition between 2019 and 2022.

His return came in 2022 when he suited up in the ECHL, but after a solid career that included Team USA, a good shot in the NHL and a fruitful career overseas, Butler has now called it quits on his career, so we congratulate him on the success he had and hope his career after hockey is just as successful.
