Former NHLer Enters the Scouting World

Brad Richardson enjoyed a long career as an NHL player, but he's now announced his next move post-retirement. The former centre will be joining the Calgary Flames — who he played for during the 2021-22 season — as a professional scout, per a report from Flames insider James Johnson.

Filling an Organizational Need

According to Johnson, the Flames organization didn't have many professional scouts on-staff. Placing Richardson in that role helps address that need, with fellow ex-NHLer Kerry Huffman also being added to that department.

Richardson retired after the 2021-22 season following 869 NHL games played. The Belleville, ON native suited up for the Colorado Avalanche, Los Angeles Kings, Vancouver Canucks (twice), Arizona Coyotes, Nashville Predators, and Calgary Flames during his playing career, posting 254 points in total. He won a Stanley Cup with the Kings in 2012.
