The Edmonton Oilers have been a revolving door of goaltenders throughout the last several seasons. This past season Stuart Skinner stepped up and did well in the starting role. Jack Campbell however struggled mightily leading the Oilers to be looking for other solutions to back up Skinner. Recent rumors suggest they may have found their guy.

Controversial Goaltender The Answer In Edmonton?

According to reports the Edmonton Oilers have been considering trading for Casey DeSmith. DeSmith was recently acquired by the Montreal Canadiens in the Erik Karlsson deal. While DeSmith's stats look like a solid option to back up Skinner at a more reasonable cap hit than Campbell off ice issues may influence the acquisition.

DeSmith Arrest Record

Casey DeSmith was arrested and charged with domestic abuse. He eventually took a plea bargain which led to a charge of disorderly conduct and 12 months probation along with a fine. While DeSmith has been around the league since this incident having this type of charge could land DeSmith on a do not acquire list by some teams.
