Elliotte Friedman Reveals Timeline for an Erik Karlsson Trade
For weeks now, the Pittsburgh Penguins have seemingly been the favourite to land the reigning Norris Trophy winner, and according to one insider, it could happen very soon.
Trade impending?
The chatter around Karlsson has increased in recent weeks, but now, NHL Insider Elliotte Friedman has updated us with a big prediction as the Penguins second buyout window opens over the weekend.
With plenty of future assets to give San Jose for Karlsson, it appears that this is a team that could be making a move very soon, with the next 72 hours expected to be wild in Pittsburgh.
Cup contenders?
When you have Sidney Crosby, Kris Letang and Evgeni Malkin on your roster, you'll always be considered a team going for a Stanley Cup, but with Karlsson, Pittsburgh would again become a genuine threat in the East.
It would take more than one simple buyout and a trade to fit Karlsson onto this roster with his cap hit for years to come, but Kyle Dubas was brought in to make this team a contender again, and if Karlsson is the player to make that happen, he's got to do everything in his power to make the move.
