In breaking news, Jake Guentzel will miss the start of the season this year after undergoing ankle surgery.

Guentzel was rehabbing an ankle injury throughout the offseason, and as it progressed, determined that surgery was required to address the injury. He is set to miss at least the first 7 games of the season, and will be out for 12 weeks.

Guentzel Will be Missed

The forward put up 36 goals and 73 points in 78 games last season, and with an already aging roster in Crosby and Malkin, the Penguins will surely miss the 28-year-old's scoring talents at the beginning of the season.

Hopefully, the recovery from surgery goes well, and Guentzel is back helping the Penguins sooner rather than later.
