The Calgary Flames find themselves in an unusual situation, with three goalies who are all capable of claiming the starting spot.

Unfortunately, this means that one of them will likely have to be moved before the season starts to ensure enough playtime for each.

Dan Vladar appears to be the player on the way out.

Vladar on the Trading Block

Among the Flames' goalkeeping resources is Dustin Wolf, one of the most promising goalie prospects in the league. Betting on a player with excellent save percentages has always been a winning strategy, and Wolf has consistently produced top-tier numbers across various leagues.

After making his NHL debut in the Flames' 82nd game last season, Wolf is perhaps the most talented candidate in Calgary's trio.

They also have seasoned pro Jacob Markstrom, who has trade protection and a $6-million annual contract, which essentially renders him unmovable unless a major sweetner is offered.

This leaves Vladar as the one to be moved. Considering his age - still young for a goalie - and the cost to acquire him lower compared to other alternatives, there's likely to be significant interest in him. Furthermore, the Flames' lack of leverage makes Vladar's position more attractive to potential suitors.

Trade talks are reportedly heating up around #Flames goaltender Dan Vladar.

With Dustin Wolf being a lock for the NHL, it seems like the Flames are motivated to make a move quickly.
