Darryl Sutter's time as head coach of the Calgary Flames can be described as infamous. The Flames made a few playoff appearances but never any truly deep runs in his tenure. During his final season, many reports and stories started to arise about how toxic of an environment Sutter had created in the locker room.

Weegar Speaks About Darryl Sutter

One such instance of this was revealed by current Calgary Flames defenseman MacKenzie Weegar. He detailed several shouting matches that would take place between Sutter and veteran Mikael Backlund. Reportedly Backlund was livid that he was not named the next captain of the Flames. This led him to question and argue with Sutter on a regular basis.

Weegar went on to say he believed a change was necessary and that he is looking forward to a fresh start.

Flames Move Forward With Huska

With such a toxic culture and regular internal fighting, it's incredible that the Flames almost made the playoffs. Under new head coach Ryan Huska they will look to do less arguing and more winning going forward
