Sabres, Girgensons agree on contract extension

The Buffalo Sabres and pending free agent forward Zemgus Girgensons have agreed on a three-year contract extension, the team announced Friday. The contract will carry an average annual value of $2.2 million per season.

Girgensons, 26, has spent his entire seven-year career in Buffalo, recording 138 points (61 goals, 77 assists) in 489 games. Last season, he had 19 points and finished fifth on the team in goals with 12, his second-highest total ever.
