According to Bob McKenzie, Henrik Lundqvist will be signing a deal with the Washington Capitals today. After being bought out from the New York Rangers, the King was one of the most appealing goalies on the market.

The deal is expected to be for one year at $1.5 million, but he will also receive $3 million dollars from his buyout with the New York Rangers.

The King went 10-12-3 with a 3.16 GAA and .905 SV% last season with the Rangers. The Sweden goalie was a top goalie in the league for many years, but as of the past couple of seasons his play has declined. With that in mind, the Rangers have not been a top team in the league, but that will be changing with #1 draft pick Alexis Lafreniere in the mix.

Lundqvist will be paired with young and upcoming star Ilya Samsonov. This goaltending tandem looks like it could be scary good for this year, especially if Lundqvist can regain some of his past form. Lundqvist is considered one of the best goalies in NHL history, and his stats can back that up. He has recorded a 459-310-96 with a 2.43 GAA and .918 SV%.

For the Washington Capitals, this looks like a great signing as the team will look to make another deep playoff run after being eliminated in the first round by the New York Islanders in this year's playoffs.
