Blockbuster Trade Proposal Sends Erik Karlsson To Division Rival

A recent trade proposal has emerged that sends Erik Karlsson to a Pacific division rival.

There is no doubt that Erik Karlsson is one of the best if not the best defenseman of this generation. He has won three Norris Trophies and is coming off of a 101-point season and is the first defenseman to score 100+ points since 1992.

While Karlsson was quite successful for the Sharks, the Sharks were not successful as a team finishing fourth to last in the entire league. With Karlsson being 32, his window for a championship does not align with the Sharks' and they are looking to move him.

Karlsson has been allowed to talk with a few teams and determine the best destination for himself.

With Seattle being one of the teams he has talked with, it makes a lot of sense to see him land there. Karlsson would stay in the Pacific division and would just move a few hours north to join one of the best young franchises in the NHL.

The Vegas Golden Knights proved an expansion team can win a cup within 6 years and last year the Kraken put up 100 points as a team without a clear-cut superstar. If they had one, like Karlsson, they could potentially go the distance.

Seattle obviously gives up a lot right here but it could help them win a cup now.

Shane Wright was the projected number-one overall pick for 2022 up until draft day where he made an unprecedented slip down to fourth overall for the Kraken.

He did not have the best year last year bouncing between three different leagues but he is still a highly touted prospect who could be a dominant first-line center at his peak.

In addition to this, San Jose would be getting Alexander Wennberg and Justin Schultz, two respectable roster players.

Plus, San Jose would be getting a potential first-round pick which is low risk for Seattle because if they do not make the Western Conference Finals, they trade their second round pick.
