According to Mikael Lalancette, who is a reporter for TVA Sports, 18 players for the Blainsville-Boisbriand Armada of the QMJHL have tested positive for COVID-19.

This is yet another reminder of just how serious and contagious this virus is, as the QMJHL just had one weekend of play to this point. As a result of the positive tests, the team's activities have been suspended indefinitely. Both players and staff have been placed in isolation for a 14-day period.

“Although our sanitary and medical protocol is very strict and rigorous, we knew that COVID-19 was highly infectious and could eventually hit certain players and team staff members,” said league commissioner Gilles Courteau. “Nevertheless, we are extremely confident that the measures contained in our contingency plan, which is currently deployed, will prove to be very efficient. We want to reiterate that the League and Blainsville-Boisbriand Armada medial staffs have taken charge of the situation and will make all the necessary follow-ups.”

The QMJHL was the only league of the three in the CHL to begin play at its usual start date, as both the WHL and OHL delayed their seasons and are expected to begin in December as a result of COVID-19. It will remain to be seen whether or not the QMJHL will be able to continue on as a result of this, but expect to hear more in the upcoming days.
