Galchenyuk was arrested by Scottsdale, AZ Police July 9th following a reported hit-and-run. Galchenyuk had signed a one-year, two-way contract with the Arizona Coyotes only 8 days prior.
An earlier article written in Markerzone shared reporting from 12News, who reported on details of the arrest of Galchenyuk, and new information has been revealed by The Athletic.
The Athletic's Katie Strang confirmed in an article that Galchenyuk was arrested, facing multiple charges from the hit-and-run, as well as antagonistic charges of "disorderly conduct, failure to obey, resisting arrest, & threating and intimidating."
The Athletic was also able to confirm details first reported in 12News that Galchenyuk spouted violent rhetoric towards an officer, making verbal threats to commit violence towards the wife and child of one officer. Galchenyuk reportedly is also claimed to have threatened to have the officer's family killed, threatening to "end their bloodline".
As well, Galchenyuk reportedly also made racist comments towards an African-American Officer, repeating using racially insensitive slurs towards said officer, even when asked to refrain from doing so.
The Scottsdale PD incident report, viewed by The Athletic, says that Galchenyuk protruded what appeared to be the scent of alcohol, and appeared as "heavily impaired", although it has not been confirmed from reports if Galchenyuk was intoxicated at the time of the crash, or while driving prior to the incident.
The Arizona Coyotes, who only days prior had signed Galchenyuk, quickly confirmed that the Forward was to be placed on Uncondtional Waivers for the purpose of a buyout days after the incident, with the team confirming his release earlier today.

Galchenyuk was signed on July 1st to a two-way deal by Arizona. The season prior, Galchenyuk played 11 Games for the Colorado Avalanche. The Coyotes placed him on Waivers only 12 days later, meaning any team can sign Galchenyuk, although his eligibility isn't known, assuming that if he is found to have being intoxicated while behind the wheel, he would likely have to undergo support from the NHL's Substance Abuse Program, if he is not suspended by the league, although the two are not mutually exclusive.
Galchenyuk, 29, has played 654 Career NHL Games with 7 NHL teams, including two one-year stints with the Arizona Coyotes previously, in the 2018-19 and 2021-22 NHL seasons. Galchenyuk was a 1st Round Pick of the Montreal Canadiens, 3rd Overall, in the 2012 NHL Draft.
