Oilers Player Makes Massive Statement on Connor McDavid
Although Connor McDavid has already solidified himself as the near-consensus best player in the NHL, one member of the Edmonton Oilers believes next season has the potential to be McDavid greatest.
Oilers forward gives McDavid glowing praise
In a podcast interview with the French Language podcast 'Sans Restriction' with Kevin Raphael, Desharnais said that he believes McDavid is poised for an even bigger year.
He also shouted out fellow Oilers superstar Leon Draisaitl, saying "The upcoming season, he and Leon are going to be dangerous!»
McDavid's historic past season
It's hard to imagine a better year for Connor McDavid, but the Oilers superstar hasn't shown signs of slowing down. McDavid's 2022-23 season was one of the greatest seasons of the last 30 years. With a whopping 64 Goals, 89 Assists and 153 Points, McDavid became the first NHLer to hit the 150 Point plateau since Mario Lemieux's 161 in the 1995-96 season, with Lemieux playing in 70 Games compared to McDavid's 82.
McDavid's historical points total is also the second highest of all time by a player not named Wayne Gretzky or Mario Lemieux, with McDavid's 153 only 2 shy of Steve Yzerman's 155 PTS for the Detroit Red Wings in the 1988-89 NHL season.
McDavid's Exceptional year earned him a near-consensus vote for the Hart Trophy, with only one voter not having the superstar at 1st.
All you can argue McDavid is still missing now, already a multi-time Hart, Art Ross & All-Star recipient, is the chance to finally hoist the Stanley Cup, something his aforementioned competitors have been able to achieve, and a hungrier McDavid may be near impossible to stop.
