A top draft pick has been imprisoned after pleading guilty to some major charges.

Who is Gagne?

In 2015 Gabriel Gagne was drafted 36th overall, ahead of notable NHLers such as Roope Hintz and Brandon Carlo. The Ottawa Senators thought they got a good one when they selected the 6'5" winger who could score goals for them.

However, Gagne never amounted to much on NHL ice having never played an NHL game and bouncing between the AHL and ECHL, and never really coming close to the NHL despite being a once highly touted prospect.

Off the ice, the issues he has prevailed eventually being sentenced to prison recently.

Gagne Sentenced To Prison

Gagne has gotten into some off-ice trouble resulting in him going to prison. He recently pleaded guilty to harassment and death threat charges. He reportedly harassed his ex-girlfriend for months on end and threatened her with violence such as saying "I'm going to kick the s--t out of you."

In addition to this, Gagne was accused of sexual assault on two separate occasions. He has yet to be tried for these accusations. He has yet to step foot on professional ice since 2020-21.
