There are a few free agent goaltenders on the market currently looking for new homes. According to a new report, one of them is looking at heading to a Canadian team.

The Report

In his latest column for the New York Post, Larry Brooks states that Brian Elliott, an unrestricted free agent who most recently played for the Tampa Bay Lightning, appears to be on his way to Toronto.

"Jaro Halak, Brian Elliott, Martin Jones and Thomas Greiss are out there seeking jobs as backups with Elliott perhaps on his way to Toronto." - Larry Brooks

A Glut of Goaltenders

If Brooks is indeed correct, this would leave Toronto with several options between the pipes. The Leafs already have Joseph Woll under contract. Ilya Samsonov will likely be back once the two sides settle on a new contract. There is also, of course, Matt Murray, a contract Toronto GM Brad Treliving would love to shed but will have a difficult time doing so. While Woll was pegged as the backup to Samsonov for next season, adding Elliott would give the Leafs a ton of experience in net. The 38-year-old is a two-time NHL All-Star, and a winner of the William M. Jennings trophy, along with having his name on the Stanley Cup twice.
