As we start to shift our focus from the NHL Entry Draft and free agency toward the start of next season, many fans have looked back on this year's best storylines.

Sticking Together

One of the more heartwarming stories leaving the draft was how the University of Michigan teammates Adam Fantilli and Gavin Brindley got drafted by the same organization, the Columbus Blue Jackets. The duo torched the NCAA this season, and while Fantilli won't be returning to Michigan next season, he's excited to play with Brindley again soon.

"I was crossing my fingers. We made eye contact before that pick. When I saw him, I started crying a little bit." - Adam Fantilli

It clearly meant a lot to Fantilli to see his friend and teammate go to the same organization as him, and we're glad that the two can stay together.

Fantilli's Influence?

There's no doubt that Gavin Brindley is an amazing hockey player, and Columbus is incredibly lucky that they got him in the 2nd round. That being said, we can't help but wonder if Fantilli had some influence over the pick.

Fantilli will be Columbus' franchise center for years to come, and we wouldn't be shocked if he mentioned something to the Blue Jacket's draft table about drafting his friend and teammate.

We may never know the truth, but we're happy for them regardless!
