Connor McDavid rarely speaks out about off-ice issues but it appears a recent decision has left him critical of Gary Bettman's choices.

McDavid Crticizes Bettman In Recent Interview

Connor McDavid is seen as one of the many players who does not put up with off-ice antics and gives repetitive answers when asked about many topics.

However, when he was asked about Gary Bettman's recent decision to get rid of all specialty jerseys, he did not hold back.

"I certainly can't speak for every organization. I know in Edmonton we were one of the first teams to use the Pride Tape. I know in Edmonton, in our dressing room, we strongly feel hockey is for everybody and that includes the Pride nights and stuff like that. So of course it's disappointing to see. With that being said, that's certainly way above my decision. It's not my call. But obviously, it's disappointing to see."

"Everyone has their beliefs. I can't speak on those. All I can speak for is myself and us in Edmonton, and I know we strongly support those types of nights."

It is rare to get this type of response out of McDavid. While the league banned pride jerseys, they also banned other special jersey nights, such as military and cancer awareness jerseys raise money for those causes.

Bettman deciding the best way to handle this is to get rid of it entirely, shows how he manages to cause controversy when trying to prevent controversy. Certainly, a rough look for the commissioner when the league's top players all disapprove of this decision.
