Matthew Tkachuk and the Florida Panthers just came off of a heartbreaking defeat in the Stanley Cup Finals to the Vegas Golden Knights.

For Tkachuk, his first Finals was defined by the gruesome broken sternum he suffered during the series.

Tkachuk took a major hit from Keegan Kolesar in Game Three, and was never the same physically.

The Florida winger was unable to play in the clinching Gave Five, and was clearly hobbled in Game Four.

Shocking Details Revealed

Matthew Tkachuk candidly explains the amount of pain and discomfort his broken sternum caused in his everyday life:

Tkachuk explains that he had to enlist his brother Brady, Captain of the Ottawa Senators, for help doing basic tasks.

"The next few days were pretty rough...My brother was staying with me, has to get me out of bed, he's getting me dressed...guys tying my skates, putting on my jersey."

Tkachuk played through the injury in Game Four but was unable to suit up in the next game, which Vegas won to clinch the Stanley Cup
