According to Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman, the Nashville Predators have placed forward John Leonard on waivers for the purpose of assigning him to the American Hockey League.

Leonard, 24, was traded to the Nashville Predators in July 2022 from the San Jose Sharks, along with a third-round pick in the 2023 NHL Entry Draft in exchange for forward Luke Kunin.

The Westwood (New Jersey) native has spent the majority of the season in the American Hockey League, putting up 38 points (14 goals, 24 assists), 12 penalty minutes and is a minus-three in 61 games. Leonard has also appeared in five games for Nashville scoring one goal.

If Leonard clears waivers at 2 p.m. ET on Wednesday, he will be assigned to the American Hockey League's Milwaukee Admirals, joining them for their Calder Cup Playoff run.
