The Edmonton Oilers' captain hosted the band's induction ceremony into the Canadian Music Hall of Fame on Monday night. Jokes aside, McDavid is typically a reserved and quiet fellow. For him to host an event such as this is quite admirable and impressive.
And he did a fine job! Public speaking is not an easy chore and takes practice. Especially for an event as popular as a Hall of Fame induction ceremony.

While the band has been subject to intense meme-ing, their record speaks for itself. Nickelback has well over 2 billion streams and over 50 million album sales worldwide. Their songs have appeared in the NHL video game series and at every NHL stadium.
The intersection of Nickelback and hockey is a busy one, and Connor McDavid hosting their Hall of Fame induction ceremony just strengthens the relationship.
Now if only McDavid and the Oilers can take a page from Nickelback's book and bring some NHL hardware to the province of Alberta...
