The Ottawa Senators announced on Friday that they've traded 27-year-old forward Jayce Hawryluk to the New Jersey Devils in exchange for future considerations.

Hawryluk, a native of Yorkton (Saskatchewan), returned to North America last summer after spending the 2021-22 season in the Swedish Hockey League with Skelleftea AIK, where he had 19 points in 39 games.

He signed a one-year, two-way deal with Ottawa in July 2022, marking his second stint with the Senators organization after being claimed off waivers from Florida in February 2020. Hawryluk has spent all season in the AHL with the Belleville Senators, putting up eight points in 19 games.

The Devils also made another trade on Friday, acquiring 23-year-old defenceman Zack Hayes from the Carolina Hurricanes in exchange for former college standout Jack Dugan.

Hayes, a native of Calgary, has now been traded twice this season after being dealt from Vegas to Carolina in November. In 28 games in the AHL between Henderson and Chicago, Hayes had four points (two goal, two assists), 20 penalty minutes and was a plus-one.

Dugan, 24, was a standout for Providence College in his two years he was there, putting up 52 points in 34 games during the 2019-20 season. In 51 games with Utica this season, the Pittsburgh native had 27 points.

Any players that are involved in trades following the NHL's trade deadline on March 3rd are ineligible for the remainder of the regular season and Stanley Cup Playoffs. With the AHL's trade deadline this afternoon, Hayes and Hawryluk will report to the Utica Comets, while Dugan will report to the Chicago Wolves.
