When the Ottawa Senators' ownership listed the club for sale, the general attitude pointed to a ~$750 million price tag. That number could reach as high as $1 billion, as competing consortiums drive it up.

On the 32 Thoughts Podcast, Jeff Marek posed the question: might this entice other ownership groups to sell at a premium?

Elliotte Friedman responded, saying he believes there are owners looking at the Senators' situation and considering the possibility of selling, though he cannot provide proof. Just a hunch.

I mean, if the Senators fetch a billion dollars, what would other, more successful clubs command?

Well, the Pittsburgh Penguins sold at a valuation of $900 million just over a year ago, so if they can't break a Billy ($1B) how on Earth are the Senators worth that much?

A question for the ownership group forking over 10-figures for the Ottawa Senators, perhaps.
