The Colorado Avalanche announced on Sunday evening that they've acquired defenceman Jack Johnson from the Chicago Blackhawks in exchange for defenceman Andreas Englund.

Johnson, 36, returns to Colorado after signing a one-year deal worth $950,000 with the Blackhawks last summer. The Indianapolis native spent the 2021-22 season with the Avalanche, helping them win their third Stanley Cup in franchise history.

In 58 games this season for Chicago, Johnson had four assists, 16 penalty minutes and was a minus-25.

Englund, 27, has spent time this season with both the Avalanche and their AHL affiliate, the Colorado Eagles. In 36 games for the big club, the Stockholm native put up three assists, 26 penalty minutes and was a plus-one. Meanwhile in 15 games for the Eagles, he recorded three points (one goal, two assists), 47 penalty minutes and was a plus-one.
