According to Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman, the St. Louis Blues have claimed forward Kasperi Kapanen off waivers from the Pittsburgh Penguins.

The 2014 first-round pick joins a St. Louis team that's undergone a facelift in recent weeks as they dealt pending unrestricted free agents Vladimir Tarasenko and Ryan O'Reilly to the New York Rangers and Toronto Maple Leafs, respectively.

Kapanen, 26, has appeared in 43 games this season for the Penguins, putting up 20 points (seven goals, 13 assists), eight penalty minutes and is a minus-eight. Kapanen is under contract through the 2023-24 season and has a cap hit of $3.2 million.

The Kuopio (Finland) native's Blues debut will likely come on Tuesday night as St. Louis hosts the Seattle Kraken.
