Chicago Blackhawks fans were robbed of a special memory on Tuesday.

Patrick Kane had his would be buzzer-beater, overtime winning goal overturned by a video review. It was the correct call. Fine. Whatever.

That doesn't mean we have to like it.

Video review is - all said and done - a net positive for professional sports. At that level, with massive implications on the line fans and clubs alike want accurate record-keeping and diligent officiating.

But fans also care about things like "vibes" and "fun."

Patrick Kane is the all the rage this week. To the point where we are all kind of sick of hearing about it. The ceaseless trade rumors make these potentially final two weeks with the Blackhawks an important time for Kane, the club, and the fans.

If it's not these next two weeks, it's the next four months. Patrick Kane is not retiring a Chicago Blackhawk.

No one knows when or where Patrick Kane will go, but it seems like an inevitability. Right now, as the NHL Trade Deadline gets ever closer, the speculation suggests a trade is coming.

The Vegas Golden Knights on Monday placed captain Mark Stone on long-term injured reserve. It doesn't take the most creative individual to draw a bridge between those two situations. The "Patrick Kane to Vegas" trade is the latest trend.

Why not? There is a fit in more ways than one. The money is no longer an issue. Kane wants to go to a contender, if anywhere at all. The Jack Eichel - Patrick Kane connection feels natural.

As fate would have it, Kane and the Blackhawks host the Golden Knights and Kane steals the show with a vintage slapshot buzzer beater. Alas, no because Gary Bettman hates fun.

Okay maybe that's a stretch, but I maintain that we do not need to like it.
