There is a reason they call it 'The Jungle.'

The ECHL is a rare blend of NHL-hopefuls and career minor-leaguers. It is common enough for Coast games to feature equal parts hockey and fighting, which makes for an excellent fan experience.

In Saturday's contest between the Iowa Heartlanders and Wheeling Nailers, sparks started flying after the home team scored what would hold up as the game-winning goal. Goal scorer Zach White made light contact with the Nailers' goaltender - Brad Barone - who completely lost it.

White's teammate - Carson Denomie - potentially saved his career. Barone's wind-up for that two-hand slash was headed straight for White's knee. If that made full contact, White is looking at serious damage.

Barone earned just 4 PIMs - 2 for leaving the crease and 2 for slashing. The game as a whole featured 85 PIMs, as the Heartlanders went on to win 4-3. Iowa took the three-game series 2-1, outscoring Wheeling 13-9.
