The Detroit Red Wings have placed forward Lucas Raymond on Injured Reserve retroactive to Friday, February 10th. Additionally, the Red Wings have recalled forward Jakub Vrana from Grand Rapids of the AHL.

Raymond - selected 4th overall in 2020 - was injured on Friday when he and teammate Ben Chiarot collided in practice. Head coach Derek Lalonde considered Raymond day-to-day at the time, but it appears as though that timeline could be extended.

Vrana has spent the last 6 weeks or so in the AHL after clearing waivers on January 4th. In 17 games with the Grand Rapids Griffins, the 26-year old has totaled 6 goals and 11 points.

This news contradicts a recent report from Nick Alberga, who stated that Vrana had played his last game for Detroit. Not to pile on anyone in specific, as Raymond's injury probably has more to do with the call-up than anything.

The belief that GM Steve Yzerman is actively shopping Vrana around the NHL is one still held by many in the business. The relationship between the two sides is still tenuous at best.

Perhaps Vrana can elevate his value with strong play down the stretch.
