While on 'The Jeff Marek Show', Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman revealed that a trade between the two teams has hit a snag due to a player that is not apart of the current deal and who's contract needs to be moved. He added that the player is critical to the deal because one of the teams wants to include him.
It's unclear who the player could be, but it's possible that it's goaltender Cal Petersen, who's in the first year of a three-year deal with an AAV of $5 million and a modified no-trade clause. Petersen placed on waivers in late November after allowing five goals on 14 shots in a 9-8 overtime loss to Seattle.
Friedman goes on to say this player is critical to the deal because one of these teams want it to happen, but he's not critical in the sense that this player will make the trade a better hockey deal for one of these two teams.— NHL Watcher (@NHL_Watcher) February 13, 2023
Meanwhile, on the '32 Thoughts' podcast, Friedman said that the Los Angeles Kings will not be trading either Quinton Byfield or Brandt Clarke and have made that known to not only the Arizona Coyotes, but to other teams around the league.
Friedman on 32TP says LA made it very clear not only to the Coyotes but to other teams that Byfield & Clarke would not be included, they let everyone internally know about it as well. Once the Clarke rumours took off Sat. night they informed him personally he would not be dealt.— NHL Watcher (@NHL_Watcher) February 13, 2023
The Arizona Coyotes are in Nashville to take on the Predators on Monday night and according to Craig Morgan of PHNX Sports, Chychrun was not on the ice for the morning skate and is a game-time decision. It was later confirmed that Chychrun will be a healthy scratch once again.
After the morning skate, Coyotes head coach Andre Tourigny told reporters that Chychrun won't play again for the team until something happens. So it's very likely we've seen the last of Jakob Chychrun in an Arizona Coyotes uniform.
Here's what coach André Tourigny told Adam Vingan about Jakob Chychrun in Nashville (I am not on the road):

The Boca Raton (Florida) native has two more years on his contract beyond the 2022-23 season with a cap hit of $4.6 million. In 36 games this season, he's put up 28 points (seven goals, 21 assists), 22 penalty minutes and is a plus-eight.
