Earlier this week, it was reported that Edmonton Oilers forward Jesse Puljujarvi is expected to be placed on waivers as early as this week. Ideally, GM Ken Holland can trade him, but if he must he's willing to waive the former 4th overall pick.

To add to that report, Sportsnet's Jeff Marek reports that Sunday's game in Montreal marks Puljujarvi's last with the Oilers.

Edmonton lost 6-2 to the Habs on Sunday afternoon; the Habs - who sit 26th in the NHL and are missing several key players. That could easily be enough for Holland to get bold.

Puljujarvi is as polarizing a player as anyone.

The Finnish power forward has just 11 points in 51 games this year despite playing more than 150 5v5 minutes with Connor McDavid. His finishing is near league-bottom, and his overall impact has diminished slightly year-over year.

His analytics are still favorable, but it's clear that something isn't clicking for him in the Oilers offense, which just so happens to be absolutely loaded.

Whether it's sooner or later, expect Jesse Puljujarvi to don a different sweater before long.
