Through the team's first 53 games, those two have a combined 50 points.
Defenseman Oliver Kylington hasn't played a game this season after he took a big step in 2021-22, scoring 31 points in 73 games.
The addition of Nazem Kadri is holding up to be Treliving's best, but it has hardly been enough. The team's complexion is just totally different without the best line in hockey; Gaudreau-Lindolm-Tkachuk.
As such, the Flames currently hold the first spot outside the Western Conference's playoff race with a 25-18-10 record. According to David Pagnotta of The Fourth Period, GM Brad Treliving isn't happy, and head coach Darryl Sutter could be a midseason casualty.
Pagnotta writes, "Bottom line, Treliving isn't happy. He is not pleased with his team's performance and there are even some whispers over the future of head coach Darryl Sutter."
While Pagnotta admits that he would be surprised to see Sutter get canned midseason, he says two separate, well-connected sources have brought that up within the past week.
Which is interesting, if nothing else.
In October of 2022, the Flames signed Sutter to a two-year contract extension, which lasts through the 2024-25 season. Sutter has never been a 'players' coach.' He is quite demanding of his team, and he even forgets guys' names sometimes.
