The Arizona Coyotes made defenseman Jakob Chychrun a healthy scratch on Saturday night, and they were wholly transparent as to why. Per the club's PR group, Chychrun was scratched for 'trade related reasons.'

Several insiders have linked Chychrun to the Los Angeles Kings in the past 48 hours. After months of trade rumors, it appears as though the Kings are best positioned to acquire the 24-year old.
On Sunday, analyst Nick Kypreos released a report saying that defensive prospect Brandt Clarke - currently with the Barrie Colts - would be the centerpiece of a Chychrun trade between L.A. and Arizona.
Arizona reportedly wants at least two first round picks (Clarke was selected #8 in 2021) and an NHL-ready player.
Clarke, 20, scored 2 assists in 9 games for the Kings this season and 2 points in 5 AHL games. The offensive defenseman scored 8 points in 7 games for Team Canada in their pursuit for a World Junior Gold Medal this past January, and he's exploded for 26 points in 15 OHL games since being relegated afterwards.
Chychrun has 28 points in 36 games for the Coyotes this season and 170 in 373 career games. He would make a great fit for the Kings, but that doesn't immediately make them Cup contenders.
Los Angeles currently holds the Western Conference's first Wild Card spot with a 29-18-7 record; good enough for 12th in the league standings.
No trade has been confirmed yet, but so far this is the most detailed report on the matter. As Jeff Marek said, Toronto and Edmonton are out of the running for Chychrun, so there are only a few qualified teams left standing.
Los Angeles, Boston, and one or two other teams could make a push as well.
