Despite how people feel about the event, the NHL's All-Star Weekend always brings the best players in the game together and it can provide some pretty special moments on and off the ice.

During Thursday's media day ahead of All-Star Weekend, Washington Capitals captain Alexander Ovechkin was full of praise for Edmonton Oilers superstar Connor McDavid.

"He's from a different planet," Ovechkin said. "How he plays the game. How he controls the puck. He controls his speed. He's very fun to watch."

He added, "It's not one player and one year. He's consistently doing it. Every year. It's cool to see. It's great for us. It's great for fans. It's great for the kids."

While Ovechkin is also having another stellar season, Connor McDavid is having a year for the ages and putting up numbers we haven't seen since the 1990's.

So far this season, McDavid has 92 points (41 goals, 51 assists), 20 penalty minutes and is a plus-four in 50 games. His 1.84 points-per-game put him on pace for 150 points, which would be the most in a single campaign since 1995-96.
