The New York Rangers took on the Vegas Golden Knights on Friday, which was supposed to be a 'Pride Night' celebration for the organization. Instead, the Rangers ditched plans to wear Pride-themed warm-up jerseys and rainbow tape on their sticks.

This left plenty of fans and reporters outraged, with no official reason for the last minute change coming from the Rangers on Friday night.

On Saturday, the Rangers released a pretty vague statement, not addressing the move to abandon their plans to wear the Pride warm-up jersey, which were announced several weeks ago.

In the statement, the Rangers said: "Our organization respects the LGBTQ+ community and we are proud to bring attention to important local community organizations as part of another great Pride Night. In keeping with our organization's core values, we support everyone's individual right to respectfully express their beliefs."

The move to ditch plans to wear Pride jerseys comes just ten days after Flyers defenceman Ivan Provorov skipped warm-ups on Pride Night citing his religion as the reason he didn't don Philadelphia's Pride jerseys.
