After spending the 2021-22 season with the Los Angeles Kings and their AHL affiliate, the Ontario Reign, goaltender Garret Sparks became an unrestricted free agent during the summer and it was unclear what would come next for him.

On Tuesday, Sparks landed a contract to play the rest of the 2022-23 season in the ECHL with the Orlando Solar Bears. This marks his third separate stint playing for the Solar Bears. He appeared in 47 games for them between 2013 and 2016, then 16 games during the 2020-21 season.

Sparks, 29, played in two games for the Los Angeles Kings last season, sporting a 1-0-0 record, along with a 1.85 GAA and a .936 save percentage. He also had five wins and five losses in 12 games for the Ontario Reign.

Orlando returns to action on Thursday when they host the Savannah Ghost Pirates. It's very unlikely Sparks will see game action this early, but expect him to be back between the pipes within the next ten-to-14 days.
