Wilkes-Barre/Scranton issue update on Penguins prospect after scary collision on Friday night

During Friday night's AHL game between Wilkes-Barrie/Scranton and the Charlotte Checkers, Penguins prospect Filip Hallander was involved in a scary collision.

The collision occurred late in the third period of the game, Hallander was tangled up with a Checkers players after a face-off, fell to the ice, with his head taking the brunt of the impact. Hallander needed to be stretchered off and taken to hospital, while the remainder of the game, albeit only 1:12 left, was called off.

On Saturday morning, Wilkes-Barre/Scranton issued an update on Hallander, saying that he was discharged from hospital and is resting at home.

"Wilkes-Barre/Scranton forward Filip Hallander was injured late in last night's game and transported to Geisiger Wyoming Valley Medical Center.

After testing and examination, Hallander was released from the hospital last night and is at home resting.

No further information on the injury will be released at this time."

The 22-year-old was having a solid season up until the injury on Friday night. In 26 games, Hallander has 25 points (eight goals, 17 assists), eight penalty minutes and is a plus-12.
