Less than 24 hours after captaining Canada to their second consecutive World Junior title, its been confirmed that Shane Wright will be returning to the Ontario Hockey League.

On Friday, the Seattle Kraken announced that 2022 fourth overall pick Shane Wright has been assigned to the Kingston Frontenacs of the Ontario Hockey League. The expectation is that Wright will be traded from the Frontenacs before the OHL's deadline on Tuesday, January 10th.

Wright, 19, has appeared in eight games for the Kraken this season, recording two points (one goal, one assist), two penalty minutes. During his AHL conditioning loan, he had four goals in five games.

There are several teams in the OHL that will be trying to acquire Wright's services. The front runners to acquire Wright, according to DailyFaceoff's Frank Seravalli are the Barrie Colts and Peterborough Petes.

The Barrie Colts sit fourth in the Eastern Conference, while the Peterborough Petes are third. The Colts are expected to get Brandt Clarke back from the LA Kings, which could be an influencing factor for Shane Wright, to play with his friend. As for the Petes, they have another one of Wright's closest friends, Brennan Othmann.
