In Monday's quarterfinal victory over Slovakia, almost all of the attention fell on Connor Bedard. And rightfully so. The consensus first-overall pick in 2023's NHL Entry Draft broke at least three World Junior records AND scored the overtime winner to advance Canada to the semi-finals.

Bedard was simply sensational, and he deserved all the attention after his three-point performance. One play which went largely undiscussed was a less impressive play by Team Canada captain, Shane Wright. Admittedly, I get no satisfaction from piling on Shane Wright (personally, I think he gets a bad wrap).

But this one was pretty bad...Wright took a light check along the wall and - in attempt to draw a call - embellished the hit. Poorly, I might add:

You can visibly see the point at which he propels himself forward. It's clear as day, at least to these eyeballs.

While Wright does garner tons of negative press, not all of it is 100% based in fact. Any criticism from this play, however, is totally acceptable. We don't want this bush league stuff in our game.
