For the second time this week, the international ice hockey community is mourning the loss of a national team member.

The International Ice Hockey Federation announced on Thursday that Indonesian national team forward Aditya Rama Putra has passed away at the age of 37. The cause of his death was not released.

Rama Putra was a mainstay on the Indonesian national team since their founding in 2016 and represented them on several occasions including the 2017 Asian Winter Games and 2018 IIHF Ice Hockey Challenge Cup of Asia.

In a statement, the IIHF said: "Rama left a legacy of commitment and determination to become a better player. He was also an idol for the younger generation. A lot of young kids would come to the rink just to have an opportunity to watch him and the team practice, so they can learn how to be like him, who is considered as one of the best player Indonesia has ever had. His character that full of fun and his humble personality would always be something to be missed from the whole organization and anyone who had the opportunity to know him."

The Indonesian men's national team is set to play in their first-ever IIHF World Championship in the spring, competing in the 'Division 4' tournament and Rama Putra was supposed to meet up with the squad for camp in January.

Our thoughts are with the Rama Putra family and the Indonesian ice hockey community at this time.
