The Philadelphia Flyers will take on their divisional rivals, the New York Rangers, on Saturday night and will be doing so without their leading scorer, Kevin Hayes.

Following the morning skate, Flyers head coach John Tortorella discussed the decision to make Hayes a healthy scratch.
"It's kind of a big picture in my mind as far as team concept. Again, I don't want to get into a long conversation about it, but it's a legitimate question. I can't keep looking at things because we're worried about scoring. I've got to worry about the big picture of what this team is going to be, what the standard is, of how we have to play. So that far outweighs losing some offense in a particular game." Tortorella said.

Hayes, 30, was benched for the third period of Thursday's 2-1 win over the Metropolitan Division-leading New Jersey Devils. In 30 games this season, the Dorchester (Massachusetts) native has 29 points (nine goals, 20 assists), 15 penalty minutes and is a minus-five.
