The NHL Department of Player Safety announced late Saturday afternoon that they've suspended Seattle Kraken defenceman Jamie Oleksiak three games for an illegal hit to the head of Washington Capitals defenceman Alexander Alexeyev.
Half-way through the second period of Friday's game between Seattle and Washington. Alexeyev was carrying the puck deep in Seattle's zone and was attempting to pass the puck behind the Kraken net when Oleksiak comes in and catches him in the head with his shoulder.
Oleksiak was given a match penalty for a check to the head, while Alexeyev was forced to leave the game and did not return.
The 29-year-old will now miss Seattle's games against Florida (Dec. 11th), Tampa Bay (Dec. 13th) and Carolina (Dec. 15th). He'll be eligible to return to their lineup on December 18th against the Winnipeg Jets.
